Try before you sign

The builder required authentication upfront. Conceptually clean — you own your policy from the start. Practically annoying — you're asking someone to create an account before they even know what they're building.

The new flow splits /build into a gateway: choose "try it" or "sign up." The try path shows an agreement page, then drops you into the full builder. Same wizard, same steps, same output. No account required.

The key detail is draft carry-forward. Build a policy in try mode, decide to sign up, and your work transfers. The draft is stored client-side and rehydrated after authentication. The builder is eighteen steps. Nobody wants to do that twice.

The builder itself got tighter in the process — down from twenty-one steps to eighteen. Trimmed redundant questions, collapsed a few that always got the same answer, and streamlined the review step.
