Samsung Food: Meal Planner

Interaction design for Samsung's smart-kitchen cooking app

A whole connected kitchen — smart ovens, smart fridges, an app to control them. Still no reason to open any of it. Knowing your oven is "smart" doesn't tell you what to cook tonight.

Samsung Food was the answer, and its information architecture and UX were mine to design. The trick was to start with the meal, not the machine: you come for a chef's recipe, and the app quietly wires it to your Samsung appliances, and shows you the one you're missing.

It shipped to 6.2k reviews at 4.8 stars, and handed Samsung what it had been missing: one front door that ties the whole product line together, from the recipe down to the oven.
